02/24/06	Two Kilo Vaginal Hysterectomy Barrier is Broken Again Dr. Javier Magrina, Professor and Chairman of the Dept. Ob/Gyn Gynecologic Oncology Division at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, performed a vaginal hysterectomy on a patient with a uterus weighing 2,421 grams on February 1,2006. The procedure included a partial inferior colonic omentectomy due to extensive adhesions. The patient did very well postoperatively.

05/27/03	ACOG Meeting, New Orleans 51st Annual Clinical Meeting - April, 2003 Best Surgical Video Awards It is with great pleasure to announce that, once again, a member of the One Kilo Club was awarded 1st Prize for the Best Surgical Video. The title was "Vaginal Hysterectomy for a Massively Enlarged Non-prolapsed Uterus" by Barbara S. Levy, M.D. of the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, Washington.
01/20/03	Two Kilo Vaginal Hysterectomy Barrier It is with great pleasure to inform the members of the Club that Dr. Javier Magrina, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ob/Gyn of Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ successfully performed a vaginal hysterectomy with removal of a fibroid uterus weighing 2,083 grams in November 2002. This is the third time that the two kilo vaginal hysterectomy barrier has been broken. In 1998 Pelosi and Pelosi reported the first case (Should uterine size alone require laparoscopic assistance? Vaginal Hysterectomy for a 2,003 gram uterus. J Laparoendosc & Advanced Surgical Techniques. 1998; 8:99-103). In February 2001 Pelosi and Pelosi performed a successful vaginal hysterectomy for removal of a uterus weighing 2,148 grams.

09/29/01	One Kilo Club Lifetime Achievement Award Dr. Octacilio Figueiredo was given this award for his lifetime dedication, achievements and contributions to the obstetrical and surgical care of women throughout his forty years of practice.
